- Reluctant five stars Review by Denny L Smith
It took me a week to get the information to fix he first problem, the JST connector broke off when I plugged in the control receiver. What's cool is there is another way to hook up a different receiver. Bought two by the time I was directed to the right one through E-mail only tech support. Now I've got over 300 into this thing.
I got it off the ground! On the fifth SOFT landing there was smoke with a small fire/flame coming off if the rear ESC! I was too scared to fly hard with it, these were three foot/45 second flights. The ESC went out, the control board went out, the motor went out, and tech support went silent upon being advised of what happened. Fortunately I got the last two motors from Grayson, the last two control boards, and the ESC's are still out of stock.
I replaced the ESC's with a different brand, and now it flies great. The camera is pretty good, the antenna that comes with the bird has good range, and after drilling a tree at virtually full speed the only thing that broke was the antenna sheared off the transmitter( smoking it). Of corse the TX is out of stock. Picked up a spektrum replacement and I'm back in the air.
The bilottim line is, the copter is fine, but if you don't have a friend to advise you then join Multi GP so that you can be sent in the right direction to find info on fixing it. This isn't your local Hobby shop purchase. Tech support is ok but by nature is also slow when you need a quick answer. So either know what you're doing before buying or get ready to take a crash course in quadcopter repair. Set aside two weeks of YouTube videos, reading forum threads, and tutorials just to get up to speed.
And with all of that said I love this thing! As far as learning something completely foreign and new is up my alley. As for Grayson hobby I think they're great folks with a needy client base. But,,, you sold it so please keep up in the tech support.
