  2. Good plane at a great price.

I seen some negative reviews on the electronics but they have performed well for me. I use a 1300mah battery and it fits perfect. For the price you can't beat it, easy to upgrade if you want. If your looking for perfection then spend a little more money.

  3. DW Shining

The shining was fun to put together.... Seems to have quality hardware and electronics...... And will just take off out of your hand..... Very aerobatic and tough EPP foam. I've already smashed into the ground a few times trying new maneuvers but very little or no damage.

Grayson hobby was great to deal with.... Got the order out quickly.... Prices are very very competitive.... I will definitely buy from them again

  6. Great Foamy 3D Plane
    Rating
No problems with the build. Instructions could be better. Great flyer. Totally ignore the rec CG in the instructions. Flew great with rec. 1300 mAh 3s lipo. Did not seem tail heavy to me at all. Built this as a gift for a club member who only flies balsa. After we both had several flights we both agreed it is a sweet flying first foamy. My friend is a new convert to foamy flying. Thanks to Grayson Hobbies.

  7. great plane

First flight was okay but not fast enough.
Your youtube comment suggested a 9/6 prop.
Because of grass clearance I opted to go with 8.5/6 tri blade.
Will fly it in a few days

  8. Update
    Rating
The instructions don't match the parts. I think they belong to the old version. You need a y cable for the ailerons, the opening for the battery needed widening to fit 1500 mah 3s lipo, the prop needed drilling the hub to fit the adapter. The fire wall is different. The finish model balanced at 25% of wing cord and appeared aligned. Will fly soon and finish the review.

  9. Great 3D kit

Strong thick EPP foam. I bought the combo and it all worked in the plane. It flies all the maneuvers you can do. I have my rates set high. I might even let my friend SF fly it. Maybe. Lol

So far so good. Have not flown it yet but is seems like it should be a winner. Super easy build.

Instructions need an update but not the end of the world type stuff

  11. Great little tough performer. Absolute !@#$% electronics.

Assembled and adjusted in two hours at my bench. The ESC fried on the first flight at 60%. Upgraded ESC to 30A, replaced servos with metal gear and extended control horns out to full width. Made incisions to aileron hinges to reduce the stress by 50%. Much snappier response. I would not recommend flying in winds over 10 mph and it's not really enjoyable even with stabilization. I recommend the kit version and spend the extra $30 on better gear.

2 flights in today. No trimming necessary. Pleased with the purchase. I might change the aileron control horns for ones with more options for adjustment.

  13. Problematic Plane
    Rating
First and foremost, the instructions, as others have noted are lousy; nevertheless, they're relatively simple to figure it out if you have some experience.
Second, the motor and ESC that comes with the bundle are trash. My motor came with a bent shaft (so I had to replace it) and the ESC has a soft start that you can't get rid of.
Third, the firewall/motor mount are a really bad design. The motor mount is basically glued to the foam and nothing else.
Because of my initial bent shaft motor, and the vibration it produced, the motor (with its entire firewall) came off the plane, tearing the foam.
I replaced the motor with a slightly bigger one (1300KV rather than the 920 KV that came with it) and a better prop (APC 9 X 4.5) and the plane flew really well, but it was hard to 3D because the surfaces don't have enough throw with the servo arms and horns provided with the plane; which btw can't be tweaked unless you replace them.
I only had one nice flight from it because the new motor, with the entire firewall, came off once again, given the torque of the motor and the fact that there's not enough foam to provide support to the firewall.
Bad design, bad product. There are better similar alternatives.

  14. Had nothing but problems with this plane
    Rating
To start with the surfaces are very hard to move even after I left them bent backwards overnight. The small attachments for the pushrods to mount to the wing when tightened all the way do not allow the surfaces to move because they do not swivel so cause the surfaces to be hard to move. Once I put hinges on the wings and changed to attachments to be loose on the surfaces that was then OK. While I was figuring all of this out the plane took a couple of crashes.
Then as I was flying it past me I noticed that the motor was cutting in and out. This caused another crash because on a bad ESC or motor. I called and they replaced both ESC and motor but buy this time the body had a couple of crashes and even after fixing everything this plane just would not fly right. Asked for them to replace body and they refused.

In general like Dynam and Grayson but for this plane I am not happy.
